I’m Playing Tag Today

blog tagYipee! I’ve been tagged by Denise Willms!

Well, I never like to pass up an opportunity to have a little fun with some online wahms.  So, I took time out to participate in a little blog tag with some favorite online friends of mine.

 Here’s the Details:

Lara Velez has started a meme where we post links. We can post up to five. Then we tell five more people to share their links. If we all share who tagged us, our links are sure to be seen!

They can be business links, favorite sites, affiliate links, whatever you want…

There are Five Rules:

1. MUST be clean. No R rated sites.
2. Only FIVE links.
3. MUST tell 5 people.
4. A link back to the person who tagged you
5. Lara’s Place is the meme originator. (an active link would be appreciated)

7 Tips to Writing a Better Sales Copy

how to write a better sales copy7  Tips to Writing a Better Sales Copy

When the word “sales” comes into business conversation, many people claim that they do not like it or that they are no good at it. Writing copy that closes the sale can make some people uncomfortable. Unfortunately, if you aren’t selling something, you are out of business.

Here are some tips to make your copy saleable:

1.  Hook the reader with a catchy headline and keep your reader interested throughout the copy.  You have only a few seconds to grab your visitors attention.  Take alot of time and effort into creating your headline and then do some tests by creating differents headlings and tracking the results.

2.  Keep your copy clean.  Use easy to read fonts and apply bold formatting to your headlines.

3.  Keep each paragraph limited to a few lines. This will increase the amount of “white space” on your page. If your words are spaced too small and close together, your reader will skip over your page entirely.

4.  Use Numbers.  You may have noticed that many magazines use numbers on their covers. Some examples include “5 Ways To Lose Weight Quickly”, “Top 10 Chicken Recipes”, or “30 Holiday Gifts Under $20”, etc. You can use this same trick to write your headlines and grab your readers’ attention.

5.  Use bulleted lists to make your page easier for your reader to scan through. Your readers’ eyes will be drawn to them, and having the information separated into small chunks will make it easier for them to read.

6.  Write your copy to pull out your readers feelings. Fear, for instance, is a powerful motivator. If your reader fears what will happen if they don’t buy your product, they will be more apt to buy. An example would be “7 Out Of 10 Americans Won’t Have Enough For Retirement… Will You?”

7.  Create an urgent call to action. If you want the sale, you have to ask for it. When you make the offer, if the reader feels that they need to act fast, they will. If they feel that they can sit around and think about it, they will.  An example would be “Click Here Now To Get This Limited Time Offer”.

When your reader is scanning your copy, they will be thinking “what’s in it for me?” If you want to close the sale, you will need to answer that question. Let your reader know how much better, easier, or more productive their life will be when they use your product. If they feel that they can’t live without it, they won’t want to.

Six Ideas to Inspire Your Blogging

6 Ideas to Inspire your Blogging:

blogging ideasKeep your blog readers informed about the changes you have made to your website. If you have added a new article, create a blog post with an excerpt from the article. You can include a link to your website which will allow your blog readers to read the full text on your website. If you have made major changes to your site, let your blog readers know about them. You can also include posts on your blog about new products or services you are offering, specials you may be having, and any other news about your business.

You can use a service such as Google News to search for news stories that relate to your business. For instance, if you are a virtual assistant, perhaps you can find an article about the increasing number of companies that are using a VA’s services. If you are in direct sales, you may find a news article explaining the benefits that a career in direct sales offers (which would make a great recruiting tool). You can post your thoughts or feelings on the news item and include a link to the original article.

Perhaps there is something going on in your local area that your readers may be interested in. When you watch the local news or read the local paper, think about how the story might affect your customers. If you think they would be interested in it, create a blog post about it. If you can find a way to tie it into something about your business,

If you are a regular reader of a blog and the author recently posted something you found very interesting, let your readers know. Some of them may be readers of the other blog as well. This can stir up a lot of discussion and traffic on your own blog.

Blog about a personal event. One of the main reasons to have a blog is to give your readers a glimpse of yourself. Every post doesn’t have to relate directly to your business. You can blog about a particularly busy day you had and include your favorite crock pot recipe. The people who read your blog may be very busy business people as well and can appreciate the fact that you too are struggling to get everything done.

Give reviews of products and services that you have personally used. This is a great way to monetize your blog as well. For instance, if you recently tried a product and loved it, find out if they have an affiliate program. If so, sign up for it and write a blog post about how much you loved the product, including your affiliate link.

So, now, for you serious Mommy Bloggers, where do you get your inspiration…and please include a link to  your blog:
