Where Can I Find Quality Content for My Website or Blog?

FAQ: Where Can I Find Quality Content for My Website or Blog?
by Nicole Dean

As an online business owner, you may already know that content makes the world go round. You need content for your website or blog, more content for your weekly ezine or newsletter, and even more articles if you’re planning to do article marketing to get free advertising for your website. So, before your fingers curl in terror, let me give you a few ideas that will save you some hassle (and some money).

But, before we start, here are a few reasons why content is important.

First of all, the search engines reward content. They are in the information business, so they reward more quality information with more traffic to your site. That’s right. The more information you put on your website, the more they’ll send you visitors. (Note, I said “quality” content?)

Second, your readers are looking for quality content.
When they land on your website or blog and find it, they’ll stick around. Not only that, but they are much more likely to tell their friends, recommend your website on forums, and stumbleupon it. You’ll have a fan for life.

Third, providing quality content establishes you as an expert in whatever your chosen field is. The more value you provide to readers, the more they begin to look at you as their information source. You’ll start receiving requests for interview and joint ventures as your arsenal of information grows. You’re reading this article right now, right? Hopefully you’ll remember me as an expert in content.

Where do you find articles for your website? You have many choices, and each has its benefits and drawbacks.

1. Write it yourself. This is, of course, the option that most “do it yourself” publishers choose and there’s nothing wrong with it. However, some of the options below will afford you a bit more freedom and help you to reach new levels of efficiency (and business growth).

2. Find a Ghostwriter. Go on the lookout at places like elance.com and Shelancers.com for a skilled ghostwriter that you can get onboard. Once you find that person who can write like the wind, sound just like you, and rely on — give her a raise and quickly! Seriously, though, it is important to test any new writer on a small project before giving him or her a large one. Many of the top gurus rely heavily on their ghostwriters. The President relies on his speech writers. It’s not a bad thing to get a little help with your writing needs. Plus, you can always personalize your articles to sound more like you before anyone else ever sees them.

3. Team up with others. Find other online business owners looking for exposure and recruit them as featured columnists or guest bloggers. They’ll be glad to do it for the free advertising and you’ll benefit by having more content for your site. This is a great way to add value to your ezine, as well.

4. Visit the Article Directories. Check out the popular article directories like ezinearticles.com and freeaffiliatearticles.com for a plethora of articles written by known experts. These articles are available to website owners like you to reprint for free on your website. All you have to do is include the “author bio” which is the blurb at the end with a live link back to their website. As long as you do that, you may use as many of those articles as you’d like.

5. Load up on PLR. PLR articles are an internet marketer’s answer to a prayer. PLR stands for Private Label Rights and means that you can freely edit the articles from these sites, and publish them on your website without being required to link back to any other sites. You become the expert when using PLR articles. Edit the articles, tweak them for your market, insert examples or photos or case studies and publish them on your website — or just use them as they are. Either way, you gain a lot of flexibility when working with PLR. Not only that but they are very affordable. How do you choose a good PLR service? Simple. Find a PLR site that’s been around for awhile and offers professionally written and edited content that’s sold in limited quantities. That will ensure that you’re not getting recycled PLR from an unsavory reseller, but are getting your hands on top-quality content.

Well, that’s a quick intro to getting content for your site. I hope it gives you some ideas to help you build a booming online business. My wish for you is to work smarter, not harder — and watch your online business grow!

  1. Writing your own content is always best if possible not to mention free!

    Tara,

You can’t beat free — it gives you a greater profit in the long run.

Creating a simple outline really isn’t too hard ~ you can quickly have your article done once you know what topics you want to cover with your outline.

    Thanks for stopping in,

  3. That’s right! Writing good content may be time consuming, but in the long run well worth it.
