Learn the Basics of SEO to Bring More Traffic to Your Site
SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization.” It means web content that is created to rank well with the search engines.
In other words, it’s the process of optimizing your content so that it will rank well with search engines when a specific keyword or keyword phrase is searched. The more you utilize SEO on your site, the more organic traffic you will generate to your site.
When you begin to learn the basics of SEO you’ll see that you want to find out what keywords or keyword phrases are popular for your niche. For example, if you are in the weight loss niche then some popular keyword phrases might be “lose weight fast” and “how to get thin.”
Once you identify your keywords and keyword phrases then your goal is to target them with your content. You should sprinkle the words throughout your writing. If you’re writing an article then you would want to place the keywords in the title and throughout the body of your article (not over stuffing with keywords, but keeping a nice balance and creating a well-written article) . You would want the keyword to appear one or two times for every one hundred words.
By writing in this manner, you will be letting the search engines know that your content will be helpful for anyone who is searching for those keywords. If you write an article titled, “How to Lose Weight Fast: 3 Great Tips” then the search engines should treat that article well when someone searches for “lose weight fast.”
The exact formula search engines use to rank search results isn’t known; however, they definitely do utilize keywords. The quality of your content is another consideration, so be sure to offer informative and well-written articles.
Most blog experts say that they focus more on the quality of their content than the keywords because they want to motivate their visitors to come back for more quality content. I happen to agree that quality should be your main focus.
Try writing your article first and then consider what keywords you might target for that particular article. Next, try exchanging your keywords for certain terms, but make sure the flow of your article still seems sensible and written in a good conversational tone. Refrain from rewriting too much of your article in order to stuff in your keywords. Doing this will create an unbalanced article.
As an added reinforcement, submit some articles to a few popular article directories, using some of your most targeted keywords. This will allow you to create some backlinks to your site and should help you to gain even more rank with the search engines.
Overall, learning the basics of SEO shouldn’t be overdaunting. Just try to take time to do some keyword searches for your articles, and soon you’ll learn to utilize keywords in a manner that will still allow your articles to flow naturally.
