Marketing my New Website – Day 3

A journal of marketing my new website (BetterBusinessPro.com) to generate traffic….
(Updates will be under the specific category of – “My Marketing Journal“)
_______________________________________________________
Today I submitted my rss feed to 30 some RSS Directories. (Here’s a blog post you might find helpful on “35 Best Rss Directories to Submit Your Blog’s RSS Feed” ) Of course, this can be a little tedious. I prefer using software. You can get RSS Feeds Submit for a very reasonable price.
Benefits: The ability to be able to submit your rss feed to rss directories is another plus for building your new website on a blogging platform such as Wordpress. RSS most commonly stands for “Really Simple Syndication”. In other words, you can have the news of your fresh bog content blasted all over the internet in a matter of minutes. Pretty neat! Search engines also quickly pick up on this content which means more traffic for you!
I also “Pinged” my new website to notify them of my new content. I like to think of “pinging” as ringing a virtual “doorbell”. It simply notifies blog applications on the internet that you’ve updated your blog and added some fresh content.
Do it yourself steps: Inside your wordpress blog you can utilitze your “Update Services” Simply go to Settings >>> Writing …and then scroll down to “Update Services”
Copy and paste in your ping url list: (I’ve collected this ping list over time, but haven’t really checked them out lately…some may no longer be in service??)

Marketing my New Website – Day 2

A journal of marketing my new website (BetterBusinessPro.com) to generate traffic….
(Updates will be under the specific category of – “My Marketing Journal“)
_______________________________________________________
Today, I went over to create some Google Alerts. I used several keywords.
You will see the following options:
Search terms: (I created several search terms — one at a time, of course. I used some of my keywords that I’m focusing on and also for the type of audience that I’m targeting.)
Type: (I chose blogs because I want to create some back links from commenting on relevant blogs in my niche. I make sure, though, that I can contribute worthy comments or else I do not bother at all. Just remember, no silly comments! lol)
How often: (This will be up to you how often you want to work on commenting on blogs. I chose mostly “once a week” so that I can focus on this type of internet marketing only once a week. I did choose “daily” for a couple of search terms. So, those I will try to check more often when I have time. I have found that choosing “daily” for numerous terms can become overwhelming very quickly.)
Deliver to: (Your email address. If you like, you could create an email address just for receiving your Google alerts.
*I start off choosing many search terms to “test the waters”…later I can eliminate any terms that do not seem to produce good results.
________________________________________________________
Also, I have visited some do follow blog directories for some blogs to visit and comment on. Again, be wise and don’t leave silly comments. Make your comments worthwhile!
*Check out these two directories: dofollowdirectory.com and dofollowblogs.com for some blogs that can help you create some quality backlinks to your site.

Marketing my new website – Day 1

A journal of marketing my new website to generate traffic….
(Updates will be under the specific category of – “My Marketing Journal“)
I thought I would create a journal here at MommyRevenue.com on marketing my brand new website, “BetterBusinessPro.com” which currently has a page rank of “0″ (of course.)
Launching steps…
I decided to launch a site targeted toward small business owners. I had some affiliate programs that I wanted to promote that would fit perfect for such a site.
On planning my site, I started searching diligently for some keywords that I could use for a new domain name. I’ve had good results using good keywords within my domain name. I used Google’s keyword tool, which gave me some good ideas for names as well.
Sometimes I have to dig a little deep. I start with some broad keywords. I look for some keywords that get a fair share of traffic, but yet are not overly competitive. I take some of those specific keywords to create another search to narrow things down a bit.
I discovered that the keyword “better business” gets a monthly search of 1,200,000. It’s a very competitive keyword, really…but wouldn’t mind throwing it into my domain name since I’m focusing on business. Not really sure…so I search some more and discovered that “business pro” gets an average of 135,000 searches per month. I consider that I could throw these words together “better business pro” and perhaps build a new site with some great keywords. *With articles that I write, I generally use much lower competitive keywords than these.
Marketing Day 1
My focus in this stage is to start gaining some backlinks to build up my pagerank. I’m not going to stress out over the pagerank, but yet, I’m going to take some measures to start generating traffic…which I’m hoping to generate mainly “free” organic traffic from the search engines. Free traffic is the best, isn’t it? It’s worth the extra work.
Today, I decided to use WL Marketing’s directory submission service to list my site in numerous directories. (It’s quite affordable…and will save me a world of time.) I love directories because they provide a permanent back link to my site. I also take care to use the keywords that I’m focusing on for my submission.
*Note: If you can’t afford to splurge even a few bucks for a submission service, then try doing your own submission work — you can find some directories at Directory Critic.
I’ve also added my new site to one of my signature links at a forum that I participate in. (Another backlink from a high pagerank site, plus free traffic from my sig.) I’ll be updating my other signature links overtime.
I also wanted to add that I installed the “All in One SEO” wordpress plugin. All you need to do is go to your “Plugins” link inside your control panel and then click on “add new” and then put in the title of the plugin in the search box to locate it. Don’t forget to go to your “Settings” afterwards to fill in your keywords for your seo plugin.
*Grab your copy of my brand new ebook, “Breakout Seo” to learn powerful strategies you can use immediately to easily attract organic traffic from the search engines.
